Lunacy is a game played on a field known as the Crater. Two alliances, one red and one blue, composed of three FIRST Robotics Competition teams each, compete in each match. The objective of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent by placing the game pieces in the trailers hitched to the opposing alliance's robots.

While playing Lunacy, robots manipulate game pieces to accomplish the objectives of the game. The robots collect "Moon Rocks" and transport "Fuel Cells." There are two types of Fuel Cells: "Empty Cells," and "Super Cells." Each game piece is a 9-inch diameter round object, made of braided 1-inch wide strips of fabric-covered polymer. These objects are commercially available as "Orbit Balls." |
You must place a Empty Cell on the rack in your fueling station to unlock the Super Cell.
Also, the Super Cell may only be thrown during the last 20 seconds of any match otherwise a double penalty will declared.

Each "Cell":
- 2 Points for every Moon Rock placed in an opponent's trailer
- 2 Points for every Empty Cell placed in an opponent's trailer
- 15 Points for every Super Cell placed in an opponent's trailers
